L2iQ in Data Centres

L2iQ in Data Centres

Data centres power the digital economy, and they cannot afford to stop. Behind every data hall is a layer of operational technology – power, cooling, security and control systems – that keeps the facility running 24/7. L2iQ brings that technology together and makes it work as one.

Like a railway, a motorway or an energy network, a data centre is critical infrastructure. Its systems must be monitored and controlled in real time, connected securely to an operations centre, and proven to work – including under failure – before the facility goes live. That is the work we know best.

We support data centre developers, operators, builders and their technology partners – from systems engineering and design through to integration, testing, commissioning and ongoing maintenance.

The systems behind a data centre

A modern data centre relies on a set of operational technology systems that must work together seamlessly

01

Power monitoring and control (EPMS)

real-time monitoring and control of switchgear, UPS, generators and power distribution, so operators always know the state of the electrical system.

02

Building management systems (BMS)

monitor and control cooling, ventilation and environmental conditions across data halls and plant rooms.

03

SCADA and control systems

bring plant and equipment together into a single view, with alarms and automated responses when something changes.

04

Optical fibre and structured cabling

the physical backbone that connects every system across the campus and back to the operations centre.

05

OT networks and cyber security

resilient, segmented networks that keep power, cooling and security systems separate from IT and protected from cyber threats.

06

CCTV and perimeter security

continuous monitoring of the site, building entries and sensitive areas.

07

Access control and intrusion detection

layered security from the perimeter fence to the individual rack, with alerts for any unauthorised entry.

08

Fire detection and alarm integration

links fire and early warning detection systems into the wider control environment for a fast, coordinated response.

09

Condition and environmental monitoring

tracks temperature, humidity, leaks and equipment health so issues are found before they become outages.

Secure by design

Data storage and processing is a critical infrastructure sector under the SOCI Act. Most attention goes to the servers, but the operational technology that runs power and cooling is just as critical – if it is compromised, the facility can go offline. We integrate OT with security built in, helping operators protect the whole facility and meet their SOCI obligations.

Proven before go-live

In a data centre, uptime is everything. Our structured approach to integration, verification and integrated systems testing means every system is proven to work together – in normal operation and under failure – before the first customer moves in, and supported throughout the life of the facility.
