Customer Counting & Tracking

The Challenge

Questacon’s distinctive building design presented a complex environment for CCTV deployment. Obstructions throughout the facility, together with constrained cable pathways and mounting locations, meant that conventional camera placement could not always provide the required coverage. The dynamic nature and configuration of the exhibits also needed to be considered when determining the most suitable installation positions.

The Solution

L2iQ proposed a coverage-led approach to camera placement, modelling the field of view available from each proposed installation position. This allowed the team to assess the impact of the building layout and dynamic exhibits and identify the most appropriate locations to support Lynx’s operational technology solution for customer counting and tracking.

What L2iQ Delivered

  • Installation of 56 CCTV cameras and associated supporting infrastructure.
  • Camera positioning and coverage designed to provide field-of-view coverage across Questacon.
  • 12-month preventive and reactive maintenance support, including scheduled and reactive site visits.

Testing, Handover & Documentation

Following installation, L2iQ completed Installation Checklists (ITCs), including static system performance testing. The resulting test documentation provided the evidence required to transition the system into integrated testing and subsequent performance tuning led by Lynx, with L2iQ support.

  • Preparation of red-line mark-ups and as-built documentation to support project handover.
  • Transition of system configuration artefacts into operations and maintenance documentation with Lynx.

L2iQ Capability

This project demonstrates L2iQ’s capability to deliver CCTV, networking and supporting infrastructure within complex operational environments, where installation constraints, coverage requirements and integration considerations must be addressed together.
